Should I be a foster parent?

Southeast German Shepherd Rescue places all rescue dogs in foster home situations. We work hard to match foster families and dogs but sometimes we do get it wrong :) Below are a few things that a successful foster parent needs to have!

1. Patience -
Most of our dogs come with no training and lots of bad habits so patience becomes an absolute must!

2. The ability to say goodbye -
Of course if you can't then you get to join the Foster Failure club!

3. Love -
Are you willing to love and cuddle your foster dog, help its confidence, give it training?

4. Time -
Fixing bad manners and providing training takes time. So if you have time to commit to training and care then fostering is for you!

5. Camera / Event Attendance -
In order to get your dog adopted out they need quality pictures and to attend our Monthly Meet and Greets.

6. And of course to foster with SGSR you must adore German Shepherds!

Rescue Rehab Rehome

Thank you so much for deciding to open your home to a foster dog and for your patience while we work through the approval process. Fostering an SGSR GSD is a highly rewarding experience and you will be supported every step of the way!
