How do I adopt?

Southeast German Shepherd Rescue has an intensive application process. The application process is necessary to protect our dogs and give them the best possible chance at finding a compatabile forever home. If you are interested in adopting a SGSR Dog then please fill out an adoption application online. Once your application is submitted a volunteer will contact you to start processing your application.

Adoption Process:
1. Submit the Adoption Application.
2. Pay the $15 application fee.
3. Be interviewed by an Adoption Counselor.
4. Allow the Adoption Counselor to check your animals vet records.
5. Allow an adoption counselor to visit your home.
6. Be approved for adoption.
7. Work with your adoption counselor and our fosters to find the right dog for your home.
8. With our approval, sign the adoption agreement, pay the associated fee ($250), and start your two-week trial.
9. Confirm your adoption during or right after your two-week trial.

If you have any questions on this process feel free to contact us prior to or after you submit an adoption application.

Rescue Rehab Rehome

We are so glad that you have decided to make a difference in the life of a homeless GSD! Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete our questionnaire and for your patience while we work through the approval process. Placing an SGSR GSD is not a difficult process but it does take a bit of time to work through the details and find just the right dog for you. We currently only adopt out to the following states: NC, VA, parts of TN, SC, and WV. If you are in any other state please contact us prior to submitting an application.

SGSR ensures all dogs are up to date on their medical care. Our current adoption fee is $250 which helps to offset the cost incurred by SGSR in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming these dogs. We do have a non-refundable application fee of $15. The link to pay this fee will show up after you submit your application.
